How to Make Plaid Chic this Season

First of all, November 17th was Darling in Scarlet’s 1 year Blogiversary!! One year, over 1,000 blog subscribers, over 7,000 Instagram followers, and 80 posts. What a year. I cannot express how thankful I am for everyone who has supported me over the past year, and all the excitement I have for what the future holds. To celebrate this important milestone in Darling in Scarlet’s blogging pursuit, I’ve decided to share one of my favourite holiday looks with you all.

I know, I know. It’s been a while since I’ve posted- Uni got the best of me. But I am happy to say that this is the first time I’ve actually gone this long without blogging, though. Oh how cool it would be to blog full-time. Hopefully one day. Anyways, keep scrolling for all the details on today’s look!

Plaid. I have always safely cleared away from the whole “plaid fad”. I don’t know what it is, but I have just never liked plaid. Perhaps it’s the abundance of pre-teens sporting the generic pattern each A/W season, or the lumberjack stereotyped garments; whatever the reason, I’ve just always found plaid to be the complete opposition of things I love. So, it may come to a complete surprise that I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and have chosen this plaid top as one of my season’s staples.

Another way in which I’ve stepped out of my fashion comfort zone this season is through the (very trendy) shade of mustard. Never ever in a million years would I have thought that I’d be out there strutting the mustard shade. Red hair and yellow have always been one of my faux pas’, but I’m done limiting myself the colours I wear based on my hair colour. And how cute is this over the shoulder bag? The mustard colour perfectly pops against the darker shades of my outfit, and I love how the colours work together.

I’ve raved about this skirt a numerous amount of times in multiple other posts now, but I seriously just can’t get enough. It’s the perfect fit, texture, and length for the A/W season, and it is ever so versatile- dress it up or down! I personally like to pair my black skirt with some black nylons for the chilly winter weather; however, for this shoot, my black thigh high boots more than sufficed. I have it in multiple colours and I can honestly say that they’ve become some of my go-to skirts of the season.

Ugh these boots give me LIFE you guys!! These boots were made for more than just walking, can’t you tell? Have you ever had a pair of thigh highs that you had to constantly hike up? Same. But not these ones; these ones could stay up through a snow storm, I swear. And yet, another one of my go-to’s this season (ha!).
